I am planning this Action Research study because my literature review (October 2010) did not reveal any relevant research that
specifically studied schools where there is a hign ESL percentage of students in Australian primary schools.

I expect this study will address:

  • What the issues are for organising grouping for literacy learning fpr ESL and/or 'at-risk' students?

  • Can we better understand why ESL and/or 'at-risk' students are not learning at a greater speed?

  • How do we describe previous research on this focus? Can we idenrify unanswered questions and might this study answer them?

  • Might we identify recommendations for future research, by having done this study?

  • Will the findings provide an organisational framework that will optimise student literacy learning for different cohorts?
